With a fine grain size of 0.2 - 0.4 mm, the sand creates a soft, natural-feeling substrate. This makes it particularly well suited to aquariums with bottom-dwelling and substrate-sifting fish that forage through the substrate for food.

Rikuo Black Sand is also an excellent choice for planted aquariums and aquascapes. Its uniform, dark surface provides a calm backdrop for aquatic plants, driftwood, and stones, giving the aquarium a natural and harmonious appearance.

The sand is clay-free and free from chemical additives and produces very little dust. As a natural material, it contains a small amount of calcium-based minerals. Depending on the source water and the quantity used, these minerals may have a slight effect on water parameters. Under normal aquarium conditions and with regular water changes, however, this effect is generally negligible.

Rinse the sand thoroughly with water before adding it to the aquarium to remove any fine particles or dust that may be present from handling and transport.
