The floating water lily comes from West and Central Africa and is also known as the broad-leaved hook lily. It forms long, ribbon-shaped, wavy leaves from the bulb.
These fresh green leaves are extremely attractive and, in addition to the wavy leaf edge, usually have a strongly hammered leaf structure.
Due to the hard, leathery and durable leaves and their size of up to 120/140cm, it can be used well for large aquariums such as cichlid and discus tanks.
It also grows well in hard water and tolerates slightly brackish water.
You should offer the plant some flow and ensure that it is sufficiently fertilized via the substrate. We recommend soil fertilizer tablets such as VIMI Bottom Longlasting. As with all Crinum species, the bulb should only be planted 2/3 into the substrate.
Growth is rather slow and Crinum natans is otherwise undemanding.
