Hygrophila difformis is a beautiful plant that has been cultivated in aquariums for many decades.
Not many other plants are easier to keep in the aquarium than these. It grows well under normal lighting conditions, however more light promotes a healthier and more voluminous appearance.
Lots of light, CO2 supply and a good supply of nutrients allow the species to grow very quickly.
The Indian water frond is therefore suitable for newly set up aquariums, where the plant absorbs a large amount of nutrients and can ensure a low ammonium content.
The water hardness and the pH value play a role in Hygr. ifformis does not play a major role and it grows very quickly even in tanks without the addition of CO2.
Propagation is as easy as with all stem plants: you cut off the upper part of the plant and replant it. This new part will quickly develop roots and continue to grow rapidly, while the pruned remainder will produce many new side shoots. You can grow beautiful bushes through repeated pruning.
