The Indian nixwort is native not only to India, but also to other tropical and subtropical Asian countries as far as Japan and Papua New Guinea. It is a "real" aquatic plant that only grows submersed (under water).
The soft shoots can be over 50 centimeters long, but usually remain below 40cm. That's why you put it in the background where you can show it off as a group. The leaves remain very narrow at around 1-2mm and look similar to the chandelier algae - it is a very decorative aquarium plant that is unfortunately very rare on the market.
The Indian Nixweed does not proliferate and is therefore easy to care for, in contrast to some of the related waterweed species. It can also be cultivated floating on the surface of the water and thus also offers protection for young animals or for shade.
