Under water, Penthorum sedoides grows small, compact and densely leafy stems that reach a height of around 10-30cm. They practically always grow upright and are extremely strong. The underwater leaves are light green, partly slightly wavy, lanceolate with a distinctively serrated leaf edge.

Only a few years ago it was discovered that the family Penthoraceae consists of only two species worldwide. For this reason alone, Penthorum sedoides is a pretty, easy-to-maintain feature for any aquarium.
