Homalomena sp. red

This Homalomena sp. red is a new, very rare plant from Bario, Sarawak (Malaysia), in the immediate vicinity of the border with Indonesia. The region is very remote and can only be reached by plane.

It is a beautiful, easy-to-care-for plant with no special requirements, but the water should be changed regularly and the Homalomena sp. red is very grateful for nutrients at the roots.

The leaves are beautifully colored from light rose-red to strong copper colors, always with a light red tone and sometimes dark stripes, while the stems usually remain a strong red color.
The larger leaves can be trimmed under water and you can keep them at a height of around 12-20cm, making the Homalomena also suitable as a foreground plant or solitary plant.

This Homalomena also does well outside the aquarium, e.g. planted partially submerged on protruding roots or in bottle gardens, Wabi Kusa and terrariums.
