Rotala ramosior 'Florida'

This Rotala, native to North and South America, has also been introduced to Asia, but it actually originates from Florida.
Underwater, it grows with straight, slightly branched shoots, usually at least 20 cm long, on which opposite, oblong-ovate leaves grow.
Under suitable conditions, the small leaves display striking red-violet colors and light green veins or spots. The leaf veins and stems also have a contrasting light green color.
With this stunning color display, Rotala ramosior 'Florida' is arguably one of the most beautiful Rotalas, although it requires a good supply of nutrients and consistent water parameters.

When pruning, this Rotala should not be cut back too much, as otherwise the lower parts of the stems could die. Only parts over approx. 20cm can be used as cuttings and replanted.
