Aridarum are rare and new plants in the aquarium hobby and a genus that is closely related to Bucephalandra, Schismatoglottis, Piptospatha and other Araceae. This robust variety grows on and in the banks of fast-flowing rivers in Malaysian Borneo, where it can be found growing firmly on stones and solid root wood, partially flooded.
Aridarum has needle-like dark green and shimmering blue leaves that are reminiscent of rosemary in appearance and have a waxy texture.
Like Bucephalandra, ferns and Anubias, Aridarum grows creeping along the rhizome and should be tied to root wood or stone. Aridarum is therefore ideal as an epiphyte plant for use in aquariums and the 'Dafeng' variant thrives ideally when its leaves can grow out of the water from time to time or permanently. It should not be planted directly in the substrate.
