The saltwort is a pretty plant for the aquarium foreground. Its characteristic feature is the sprawling leaves with the spoon-like shape. It is therefore often compared to lamb's lettuce for the aquarium.
Samolus valerandi needs a period of acclimatization and sufficient light and nutrients; CO2 addition is not necessary, but it can be fertilized via the roots.
It has a balancing and calming effect on the tank design and can be used in many ways; it also looks good next to rigid objects such as large stones.
The plant tolerates a relatively high salt concentration of 30 mg/l and can therefore also be planted in brackish water aquariums or in the paludarium with appropriate animal stock.
