This small-growing, creeping stem plant is often also known as Staurogyne sp. 'Brown' and was traded with this name as a special rarity a few years ago.
The findings of the last few years show that it is a Hygrophila species, because the emersed growth is very similar to Hygrophila and hardly to Staurogyne species.
According to information about its distribution at the time, it is native to South America, although tropical Asia also seems likely.
It is definitely a remarkable new aquarium plant that is characterized by creeping growth and a beautiful play of colors from green to reddish brown.
The culture is relatively easy and the growth is broadly bushy if shoots that are too long are always shortened in good time.
Hygrophila sp. "Creeping" does not have any special requirements, but with a lot of light and a good supply of nutrients and CO2, the most beautiful, well-contrasted and slightly wavy, multi-colored leaves are naturally formed.
As a carpet-forming foreground plant with reddish-brown tones, Hygrophila sp. “Creeping” is probably unique and you can achieve great contrasts with other fresh green plants.
