For several years now, beautiful forms of Cryptocoryne spiralis from southwest India have been known, such as the Cryptocoryne spiralis Red here. They are still rarely available in Europe.

When kept submerged, Cryptocoryne spiralis 'Red' develops dark brown-red, ribbon-shaped leaves with smooth to slightly curled edges. The midrib is predominantly bright green and forms a beautiful contrast to the brown-red edge with darker marbling.
This great aquarium plant reaches a height of around 20 - 40cm, although individual leaves can grow taller and up to 50cm after a long time.
