Eichhornia diversifolia is a purely aquatic plant native to Central and South America. The plant requires strong light of approximately 0.75 watts/liter and should not be placed in any shade, as otherwise the leaves will become unsightly and transparent and fall off. CO2 supply is necessary, and sufficient nitrate and phosphate levels should be maintained (approximately 10-20 mg/L nitrate and 1-2 mg/L phosphate are recommended).
If the plant is given sufficient space, it will produce numerous side shoots and stems, developing into a bushy, horizontally growing, hedge-like plant. The numerous side shoots should be cut off and replanted in the substrate.
