Eriocaulon setaceum is currently the only stem plant among the Eriocaulon and has hair-thin, fresh green leaves.
It is a true underwater plant, so it only occurs submerged and this Eriocaulon is found primarily in the tropical regions of the world, where it is widespread in warm waters.

Eriocaulon setaceum has quite high demands: lots of light, good nutrient supply, high CO2 concentration of around 30 mg/l and soft water are recommended.
