Product Information

Schismatoglottis roseospatha originally comes from the southern part of Sarawak on Borneo. It is a rheophyte that occurs on rocks along fast-flowing forest streams and attaches itself to them with the creeping rhizome or roots.
Although in nature it is only temporarily flooded or grows with changing water levels and also in very humid splash water areas, it is also perfectly suitable for permanently submerged aquarium culture.

This schismatoglottis has narrow-oval to narrow-lanceolate, dark green, somewhat shiny leaves with finely wavy edges and reddish-brown petioles.
It is still called “Schismatoglottis roseaspatha” and is a remarkable plant.

Under water it usually stays under 8-10 cm high. In its use, S. roseospatha is comparable to the Anubias varieties.
It is best to tie them to rock or wood or plant them in coarse substrate, although the rhizome should not be buried.

Emersed culture, for example in terrariums or Wabi-Kusa, is quite easy with high humidity, in moist substrate and in weak to moderate light. Occasionally the pretty inflorescences with pink bracts (spatha) develop, after which this arum plant gets its species name.
