Lysimachia parvifolia was also called 'Samolus sp. red' or 'Samolus sp. Guangxi' until its identification in 2024 and was originally introduced from China.
So far, this plant is a true rarity and has only been known since around 2023. It has proven to be quite easy to keep in an aquarium and tolerates a wide range of water parameters and temperatures, even slightly brackish water.
With sufficient light, it displays its vibrant red and light purple tones. The elliptically rounded leaves grow to approximately 6-10 cm long. The plant itself grows rather stocky as a rosette plant and, with a good supply of nutrients from the substrate, can reach large diameters of over 25 cm (although this will tend to be the exception).
It's not particularly demanding and makes a great addition to small aquariums or Wabi Kusa plants.
For optimal nutrition through the roots, we recommend soil fertilizer tablets such as VIMI Bottom Action.
As an emersed plant (above water), it presents a completely different appearance with oval-round, medium-green leaves and taller stems.
