Eleocharis acicularis is distributed almost worldwide in the wild. In Germany it can also be found on pond banks and in shallow water and is therefore not only a beautiful, easy-to-keep aquarium plant but is also regularly used as a garden pond plant.
The thin, rather straight stalks are colored medium green in the underwater form and are around 10-20 cm long.
The similar Eleocharis pusilla (mostly sold as "E. parvula") is colored lighter green submerged under the same conditions and remains significantly lower at around 5cm and has curved stalks.
For several years now, the smallest representative of the Eleocharis has been the even smaller "E. spec. mini" for very low foreground plants in aquariums.
