The name 'Loxogramme sp. Wave Moss' has become particularly popular for this fern prothallium of 'Microsorum pteropus'. This prothallium resembles a liverwort and has been identified as a gametophyte (pre-germ) of the Java fern (Microsorum pteropus). Visually, it resembles the "freshwater kelp" (Lomariopsis prothallium), but has smaller, darker green lobes (leaflets).
'Loxogramme sp. Wave' grows into dark green, flat cushions, with fine rhizoids forming on the underside, allowing this prothallium to attach itself to rocks and root wood. It is not demanding in terms of lighting and grows slowly but steadily even in shade. A good supply of nutrients with VIMI plant fertilizer and the addition of CO2 significantly promotes growth.
'Wave Moss' is a unique aquarium plant and is of interest not only to enthusiasts of rare aquarium mosses and ferns. Its small leaf structure and distinctive growth habit make it particularly attractive for prominent branches and small nano aquariums.
